Left- or Right-handed Reels: Which to Use?

Left-handers write with their left hand and righties throw with their right arm. That’s pretty simple, but what about fishing, where you reel with one hand and hold the rod with the other? Most reels are available in a right-hand and left-hand retrieve, so you can gear up to maximize your efficiency.

Here’s my short video on deciding which reel to use, and the best solution might not be what you were previously taught.

  1. I do fly fishing, and I am right handed. But I use a left handed reel. The point is, you can be trained to use anything, right or left.
